Reata


Reata is a collaborative multimedia project (2018-2021) including graphic design, textile art and styling, photography and Super8 film. This work was first exhibited this work in 2019 in Tucson, Arizona (see Tucson Weekly). It has also been shown at Picture Room as well as the International Center for Photography in New York as part of Balam’s “Mestizx” projections.

The work follows the perspective of Reata, the series’ protagonist, as she travels through Southern Arizona. She embraces the landscape while standing in contrast to it, dressed in all black. Reata explores the embodiment of contradictions—examining where defiance and belonging collide.
